Yubico and LastPass Provide Secure Password Management for Enterprise

PALO ALTO, Calif. and STOCKHOLM, August 15, 2012 – To meet the growing need for online identity protection, Yubico, the leading provider of easy and secure login technology, has expanded its collaboration with the popular password manager LastPass. Successfully proven with consumers, the LastPass Enterprise offering bundled with the YubiKey is now available on the Yubico web store.

Password managers assist users in easily managing multiple unique and complex passwords for a diverse range of services. Security experts recommend using a two-factor authentication token when logging into the password manager application, to ensure that hackers are unable to access the user’s repository of unique passwords.

“The LastPass Enterprise and YubiKey bundle offers companies a secure solution to easily manage and control their teams’ passwords, as the weakness of traditional usernames and passwords affect companies, no matter the size of the team,” said Stina Ehrensvard, CEO and Founder of Yubico.

Hundreds of companies already use the two-factor authentication token YubiKey for securing access to the LastPass Enterprise Password Manager. The spectrum of Enterprise users spans from non-profit organizations and IT consulting firms, to financial services and health-care providers.

“LastPass Enterprise is helping businesses save time while being more secure. LastPass provides an easy way to build shared password repositories with robust sync capabilities, enforce customized security standards, utilize reporting for auditing and compliance while reducing time wasted on helpdesk calls,” says LastPass CEO Joe Siegrist. “With the YubiKey bundle, there’s now an easy way to also enforce higher security standards for employees and better protect company data.”

The YubiKey USB authentication key simplifies the process of logging in with a One-Time Password (OTP) token, reducing manual typing of long passcodes from a display device to pushing a button while maintaining the high level of passcode strength. The practically indestructible device fits easily on a keychain and works on all computers and platforms without the need for client software.
