Activate NFC on Your YubiKey
Your YubiKey comes with a safeguard to ensure your privacy during transit. If you’ve tapped your YubiKey and found NFC disabled, don’t worry – it’s all part of our commitment to your security. This page will help you get your NFC activated.
How to Activate NFC:
- Plug in for Power: Simply connect your YubiKey to any USB power source, such as a computer, for at least 3 seconds.
- That’s It!: Once powered, NFC will be activated and ready for use.
What’s Happening?
Your YubiKey is equipped with Restricted NFC, a feature designed to safeguard against wireless manipulation during shipping. This means that NFC operations are temporarily disabled until you activate them.
Why NFC Was Disabled:
During transit, your YubiKey’s NFC function is disabled to prevent unauthorized access. This is a new security measure to protect your device and data before it gets to you.
