Unlocking trust in enterprise security: Yubico and Okta empowering businesses together

Collaboration with ecosystem partners is critical for providing our customers with the best cybersecurity solutions. Together, Yubico and Okta have achieved remarkable milestones over the years, including launching innovative solutions and aligning our go-to-market efforts – all aimed at delivering the most impactful cybersecurity solutions and user experience for our customers and partners. At the heart of these efforts lies a shared commitment to phishing resistance and making passkey adoption globally easier.

As long-time partners as leaders in identity and authentication, Okta and Yubico have been collaborating to support the broader enterprise adoption of passkeys that seek both ease of use and robust protection. This week at Oktane (find us at Booth G2), we’re highlighting our partnership that aims to enhance complete enterprise passkey adoption, without having to make the choice between security and convenience.

Combining the power of passkeys in YubiKeys and Okta FastPass

Yubico and Okta’s collaboration is vital for delivering top-tier phishing-resistant cybersecurity solutions. Our shared goal is to not only offer the best-in-class cybersecurity, but an excellent user experience – focusing on phishing resistance and simplifying global passkey adoption. As leaders in identity security and authentication, we continue to work closely to advance enterprise passkey adoption, enabling both ease of use and robust protection. During Oktane (September 24-26), we will be showcasing our integrated solution – aiming to enhance full enterprise passkey adoption without compromising security for convenience.

Passkeys are revolutionizing logins, with the YubiKey serving as a portable, hardware-backed root of trust. This enables passwordless authentication across multiple platforms for Okta-protected applications. Passkeys stored in YubiKeys are ideal for high-assurance scenarios and BYOD environments where device trust alone is insufficient. Okta’s authenticator, FastPass, offers secure, low-friction access to Okta-protected resources across various operating systems, perfect for managed devices.

Stephen Lee, VP of Technical Strategy & Partnerships at Okta, shared this about Okta’s deep relationship with Yubico: “Passkeys represent a significant leap forward in user experience and security. By enabling seamless integration and support for hardware security keys like YubiKeys within our identity fabric, we empower organizations to deploy the strongest forms of passkey security. It’s about providing choice and maximizing security, and partnering with the best hardware providers, like Yubico, is essential to that vision.”

Together, YubiKeys and Okta FastPass provide a complementary approach to passwordless authentication that enterprises can scale. This product integration helps ensure strong, hardware-backed passkeys from Yubico are combined with Okta’s identity fabric – orchestrating access, enrollment, and authentication signals to meet diverse enterprise needs without sacrificing security or usability.

Okta and Figma set the standard: Enterprise-wide YubiKey rollout

Okta has demonstrated its commitment to phishing-resistant passkeys, like those stored in a YubiKey, by rolling out YubiKeys across its own workforce. Utilizing Yubico FIDO Pre-reg, a product within Yubico’s Enrollment Suite, Okta deployed YubiKeys to over 6,000 employees globally in just four months. This decision underscores how a major identity provider can successfully adopt and implement support for phishing-resistance with hardware-backed passkeys, which are widely recognized for offering the highest level of trust.

Following Okta’s lead, Figma also rolled out Yubico FIDO Pre-reg to its entire workforce, embracing this innovative solution for enhanced security. If you’re attending, don’t miss our session with Figma at Oktane, where they will discuss their journey to passwordless with Yubico — eliminating phishing and making logins effortless for every employee.

Scaling security: YubiKey as a Service expands globally

To meet the increasing demand for accelerated and more affordable delivery of pre-configured YubiKeys, Yubico recently expanded its YubiKey as a Service subscription throughout the EU, and extended the availability of YubiEnterprise Delivery to 199 locations globally. Yubico FIDO Pre-reg, which became generally available to all Okta customers on November 12, 2024, offers a turnkey passwordless onboarding experience for enterprises, available through the YubiKey as a Service subscription program.

This long-standing relationship between Yubico and Okta brings together the hardware-backed assurance of YubiKeys with the convenience of Okta FastPass. This combination enables enterprises to deliver strong, passwordless authentication that adapts to diverse user needs, pairing resilience and recovery with seamless access on managed devices. It offers a scalable model that strengthens security without compromising usability.
