The OpenID Foundation Board’s Quick Take on the Landscape
The wind is in the sails of many families of OpenID Foundation specifications, ranging from established specifications OpenID Connect and FAPI for Open banking, to specs climbing the adoption curve like Shared Signals and OpenID for Verifiable Credentials. Plus we are seeing new Work Groups and Community Groups form like IPSIE, AuthZen, Death and the Digital Estate Community Group, and the Ecosystem Community Group. What is driving this frenzy of work in the OpenID Foundation? How are standards bodies coordinating with each other? What impacts will AI and Quantum computing fit in? What role is government playing in accelerating this work? What is keeping us up at night? What does it all mean for implementers in 2025 and beyond? Board members from the OpenID Foundation will share their thoughts and how the OIDF is tackling the challenges we can see… and the ones we can see around the corner.

Unconventional Approaches to Identity: Securing Political Campaigns
The political campaign ecosystem is unlike any other; operating in a digital landscape fraught with risks is already difficult, yet many campaigns often don’t have trained cybersecurity staff to fortify their defenses adequately. Campaigns have been a prime target for cybersecurity and identity-based threats in recent years, and 2025 will be no different. Because campaigns are built on trust, leaked confidential information can be detrimental. Though recent security improvements have been made, bad actors continue becoming more sophisticated in gaining unauthorized access – with phishing attacks and evolving AI-driven threats making attacks even more successful.
As AI advances, even more vigorous phishing attacks, data theft and disinformation efforts are expected, and it’s critical to be vigilant to defend against adversaries who seek to tamper with election outcomes. The role of campaign security extends beyond political organizations, and there are many ways to help in the ongoing battle with a cohesive cybersecurity strategy centered around identities and modern, FIDO-based authentication.
Join Yubico, Defending Digital Campaigns for a discussion on the current cyber threat landscape and extraordinary challenges facing political campaigns, as well as a breakdown of effective and practical cybersecurity and identity solutions for the next elections cycle.
Session Speakers:
Ronnie Manning, Chief Brand Advocate, Yubico
Michael Kaiser, CEO and President, Defending Digital Campaigns

wwWallet an Identity Wallet project for Europe and Beyond
Yubico, Sunet, and GUnet have been leading contributors to the development of an open-source European Digital Identity (EUDI) wallet. The wallet can be implemented as a web wallet running in a browser. This means a smartphone is not required to use the wallet, making it inclusive and independent of app stores and phone vendors. Instead of using native APIs to protect cryptographic keys, this web wallet uses FIDO authentication to secure the wallet.
wwWallet is currently participating in the German SPRIN-D EUDI Funke innovation competition. This competition’s goal is to develop and test technical solutions for future German EUDI wallets in the form of prototypes. Our wallet has made it to the last phase of the competition, which runs until the summer of 2025. For this competition, the wallet has enabled provisioning of credentials from the German national eID (the Neue Personalausweis smart card) and real-world use cases have been tested together with relying parties from the POTENTIAL large scale pilot. This project also participates in the DC4EU large-scale pilot..
Panel Speakers:
