2025 Global State of Authentication Report
Perception vs. Reality: Gaps in Authentication Security
With AI threats on the rise and cybersecurity breaches becoming more common, Yubico has released its latest Global State of Authentication survey to provide a snapshot of how people are managing their security at work and at home. The survey, run by Talker Research, gathered input from 18,000 working adults across Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States.
The survey revealed a growing disconnect between how cybersecurity is perceived and what actual cybersecurity habits are, particularly around password use and multi-factor authentication. At the same time, concern over AI-driven threats is rising sharply and trust in hardware-based authentication methods, like security keys and passkeys, is steadily increasing – particularly in the U.K. and the U.S.
