Yubico Launches YubiKey Nano, The World’s Smallest One-Time Password Token

PALO ALTO, Calif. and STOCKHOLM, Feb. 28, 2012 – Yubico, the leading provider of simple, open online identity protection, today launched a new minimized form factor of the company’s popular YubiKey one-time password (OTP) token. The new YubiKey Nano cleanly fits inside of a USB port and is designed for users who want to make user presence and machine authentication an integrated part of mobile devices.

Successfully proven by the world’s leading enterprises and more than one million users globally, Yubico’s standard YubiKey fits on a keychain for portable, secure and easy authentication on multiple computers.

To address increasing requirements for authentication on mobile devices, the YubiKey Nano is a simplified Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Providing the same authentication and security properties of a standard Yubikey, the YubiKey Nano offers a compact design to that allows it to fit flush in the USB-port of laptops and tablets.

Additionally, the YubiKey Nano can also be inserted into the Apple Camera Connection kit, becoming an integrated authentication solution for iPad users. Unlike a conventional TPM, the YubiKey Nano features a touch button for user presence test and is not limited to a specific computer. Furthermore, the Yubikey Nano can be configured centrally and be deployed to a broad audience securely.

The YubiKey Nano is manufactured in California and is 100 percent compatible with the standard YubiKey and the established and proven Yubico ecosystem. The new product is now available on the Yubico web store for $40 USD, and is being demonstrated at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, February 27 – March 1, booth #2744.
