Yubico and NXP Semiconductors to Unveil the First FIDO Ready™ U2F Authentication Device at RSA 2014

PALO ALTO, CA, Feb. 24, 2014 – Yubico, the leading provider of simple, open online identity protection, and NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ: NXPI) will demonstrate at the RSA Conference USA next-generation YubiKey technology to create awareness of the need for strong two-factor authentication to keep online identities and proprietary business information safe. Yubico will be at the NXP booth #1341 in the South Expo Hall.

* Note – as of May 21, 2015, Yubico FIDO Ready™ products became official FIDO Certified™ products.  Read more here.

Yubico and NXP are both board members of the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance (www.fidoalliance.org), an industry consortium revolutionizing online authentication with the first standards-based specifications. At RSA, Yubico and NXP will demonstrate the FIDO Ready YubiKey NEO with U2F (Universal Second Factor) standards, which are founded on the recently published FIDO specifications.

U2F is an open authentication standard initiative focused on scaling high security smart card technology beyond government and enterprise to every internet user. When available, the YubiKey NEO with U2F will open the door for all online websites and services to easily incorporate additional authentication into their platforms.

In today’s online world, every day, hundreds of millions of internet users are logging into social media, online storage, business sites, banking and other online destinations without the security of two-factor authentication. Yubico and NXP will also present the simplicity of two-factor authentication for other YubiKey NEO use cases, including Windows login, PIV, PKCS11, OpenPGP, password managers, and for leading cloud services with support for OATH TOTP.

“The key to secure cloud services is a physical Key using public key cryptography to maintain privacy and security element IC to protect access credentials,” said Sami Nassar Vice President & General Manager Cyber Security Solutions, NXP Semiconductors. “Unlike in the username password Authentication, physical theft of the key need to occur before your account can be hacked.”

“Our online identities are our most important assets, with one successful hack or stolen passwords, these identities can quickly become damaged,” said Stina Ehrensvard, CEO and Founder, Yubico. “We look forward to educating users on the simplicity of security that exists today with the YubiKey and what they can expect in the future with U2F functionality. With just the touch of a button or tap to NFC, users get military grade two factor authentication to online websites and services for consumers and enterprises.”

Additionally while at RSA, on Wednesday, February 26, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Yubico and NXP will be participating in the FIDO Ready Showcase. The Showcase will feature a FIDO Alliance member panel, FIDO Ready live product demonstrations, and a chance to meet and interact in one-to-one meetings.
