Yubico launches new YubiKey firmware to support TrueCrypt full disk encryption

Febuary 2009

Yubico, the leading open source and USB authentication company, today launched a new firmware release to bring strong authentication to TrueCrypt full disk encryption, the popular Open Source software.

The new firmware release now enables the YubiKey to be used in “pre-boot” settings, such as the TrueCrypt full disk encryption.

Yubico offers customers who have YubiKey devices configured for static operation a time-limited replacement offering. Key needs to be sent to the Sweden or U.S. office, including customer’s name and address. Yubico address details can be found on http://www.yubico.com/contact/index/. Please mark the mail “Key replacement.” The new keys will be pre-programmed for static mode and will not work for the Yubico validation server or associated services.
